| Army role lauded for restoring peace in Doda | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Doda, Jan 3: At a function organized by 10 Rashtriya Rifles in Doda, cheques were distributed among 27 beneficiaries by the senior Congress party leader and MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani.
A total amount of Rs. 22 lacs was distributed on account of compensation against acquisition of land by 10 RR at DPL Doda.
This compensation of land was pending since last so many years and could be released only on persuasion of MLA Doda.
Deputy Commissioner Doda Faruq Ahmed Khan, CO 10 Rashtriya Rifles Col. Chowhan, Tehsildar Doda and other prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the function, Abdul Majid Wani lauded role of Army, especially, in restoring peace, its Goodwill Operation and maintaining close liaison with local public at Doda district.
The army also played important role during natural disasters/calamities like snow tsunami, draught, and epidemics in the area.
Today, peace is completely restored in Doda district but at the cost of number of lives of local people as well as army soldiers.
Wani said that the Army has also important role in launching an awareness campaign against “Global Warming”, “Green Gases” and also in social forestry.
