EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu , Jan 4: To finalise the programme to celebrate its 30th foundation day, the Kissan Sabha held a meeting under the presidentship of advocate Hari Chand Jalmeria at village Kohag in Billawar. In the meeting, the Sabha members decided to organize a one-day Kissan Sammelan on the foundation day to be held on January 11 at village Kohag. Farmers’ leaders, poets, artists from other areas of Jammu province and from Punjab were also invited. Jalmeria apprised the Kisan Sabha that Dogri Sanstha shall participate in the cultural and poetic programmes on the occasion. Besides discussing the issues related to the farmers community, Dogri folk songs Bhakha, Karkan, Baran, Dholru, Suhag, Ghorian, felicitation of artisans, artists, agriculturists, horticulturists shall be part of the Foundation Day celebrations. Jalmeria expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the farmers in the country and in the state in view of the shrinking agricultural land due to its diversion to commercial use including making housing colonies, brick kilns, shopping complexes etc. Dependence on agriculture is fast becoming unviable. Jalmeria appealed the farmers to participate in the Kisan Sabha Foundation Day celebrations at village Kohag in tehsil Billawar. Reception committee comprising Tek Chand Spolia, Chuni Lal Mistri, Sher Singh, Rakesh Singh Advocate, Isher Singh Dharal, Capt Hans Raj, Sagar Chand, Hukam Chand, Punnu Ram, Sanjay Kumar, Dhian Singh, Rasal Singh, Bishan Dass, Dhani Ram, Som Raj, Raghunath Singh, Bodh Raj, Abdul Aziz, Sunil Singh, Bhag Singh was constituted.
