Ayurvedic hospital becoming ‘showpiece; of apathy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan. 4: On one hand the State Government is making claims of making primary health services number one in J&K but on the other hand the Ayurvedic hospital in Jammu is becoming a ‘showpiece’ of government apathy. There is only single Ayurvedic hospital at provincial level but due to staff deficiency it is working just as dispensary and that too at Primary Health Centres (PHC) level. Due to staff deficiency patients have to wait a long for getting treatment. Most of the patients are also irritated by the behavior of the staff. Sources said that there are departments where no doctor is available and patients are facing lot of problem. “There is three times shortage of staff as compared to the present staff appointed in the hospital which leads to problem for the people who came here to get treated”, said a official. “Government should take initiative to increase staff availability in the hospital so that people don’t have to suffer. It seems that this stream of medicine has been neglected by the Health Department”, said Rattan Lal, a patient. It is pertinent to mention here that despite investing crores of rupees in upgrading the Health infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, many of the hospitals are facing staff crunch. Added to this is non-availability of the basic equipments due to which the patients have to face lot of problems.
