Truth is always bitter: Bhat | APHC leader denies having sabotaged freedom movement | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 4: "Better late than never" This was the comment senior APHC leader, Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat made when asked why it took him several years for his disclosure in which he had stated that "our men" and not the security forces killed Moulvi Farooq, Abdul Gani Lone and Abdul Ahad Wani. Asked what had prompted him to make the disclosure Bhat said since it was a function connected with the death anniversary of Abdul Ahad he opened up his mind and spoke the truth. He aded it was not for the first time that he had made the disclosure on the killing of Mirwaiz Moulvi Farooq, Lone and Wani by "our men." He said he had said so earlier also and either the media ignored to publish it or were not known of it. In reply to a question he said "I am not bothered about the consequences because I have crossed 70 years. I know truth is always bitter but one must accept the realities. "He said if Geelani Sahib or anybody else allege that these three separatist leaders were killed by the Indian security forces they must establish it with documentary evidence. Reminded that Syed Ali Shah Geelani had not reacted to his statement Bhat said "Let Geelani Sahib explains why he is silent. And if he blames the security forces he must establish it with documentary evidence." In reply to another question Bhat pooh-poohed the charge that by blaming "our men" for killing the three senior separatist leaders he had sabotaged the freedom movement adding that his freedom movement does not favour lies. Those who are "genuine freedom fighters" they are never afraid of speaking the truth. He said those who have stated that guerrillas have criticized him for his candid statement they should identify those guerrillas. And if anyone has questioned" the veracity of my statement" they should come out with documentary evidence to prove "me" wrong.
