Infamous Rawalpora land scam | CB challans 7 revenue officials, 38 civilians | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 04:- In a significant move, the Crime Branch Kashmir presented chargesheet against seven revenue officials, 38 civilians in most infamous Rawalpora land scam. This was disclosed by the Inspector General of Police Crime, Raja Aijaz Ali here today. He said that a case of criminal conspiracy, misuse of official position and cheating hatched by revenue officials of District Budgam along with land mafia of Rawalpora was registered with Crime Branch after a preliminary investigation carried out by police. He said in order to sabotage the process of investigation the revenue officials damaged records connected with the case, the Crime Branch Kashmir with the assistance of nodal agency for computerization of records of J&K reproduced the whole ‘aksi latha’ on CD, tallied it on ground and carried forward the investigation. He further said that it was found that the revenue officials in connivance with the local land brokers converted the government land kahcharai into the proprietary land fraudulently and sold the same to innocent people through pseudo owners creased by them thereby defrauding the public and government in crores. Raja Aijaz said that most of purchasers of scammed land were either handed over the plots on the government land which was under water and others are still searching out the purchased land, revenue officials namely Mohammad Amin Andrabi and Mohammad Skinder Malik, then Tehcildars of Budgam, Omkar Nath Koul, then Girdhwar Halqa Ralwalpora, Ghulam Mohammad Ganai, Ghulam Hassan Sofi, Ghulam Nabi Ganai and Mohammad Subhan Wani, then Patwaris of Rawalpora and battery of notorious land brokers of Rawalpora namely Wali Mohammad Malik S/O Lassi Malik R/O Peer-Bagh, Hyderpora were produced in the court of law. The IGP maintained that Crime Branch has lived up to its professional reputation and carried out a herculean task in spite of impediments created by the concerned revenue officials who destroyed most of the records in evidence.
