10-minute, 4 goals; Musa wins 5-1 in Football

JAMMU, January 04: Netting four goals in last 10 minutes of the game, Musa Club routed Jammu United by five goals to one in the 5th Christmas Gold Cup Football Tournament underway at GGM Science College ground, here today.
With today’s big win, Musa Club has reached the next round of pre-quarterfinals. Now, the fighting side of Musa Club shall take on equally good BSF Jammu XI tomorrow at 12 noon.
Earlier, both sides started on positive note making one goal each within first 10-minute play. Jammu United took the first lead in the fifth minute through Ravi Sharma. Two minutes later, Rakesh Kumar brought in equalizer making it a field goal in seventh.

But in the rest of 50 minutes game the success eluded both the sides. The breakthrough came in the way of Musa Club in the 60th minute when Jammu United defender headed the powerful kick taken by Sukhpreet from fight flank and the goal-keeper misjudged, resulting into the ball entered the net kissing the goal bar.
It was followed by a total breakdown of Jammu United defence which provided fighting Musa Club ample of space to improve the tally. Kumar Nair scored in the 64th minute while Sunil Kumar netted the ball in the 68th minute. A minute later in the 69th, Baljit Singh beat the goal-keeper to help his side make it a big 5-1 win.
This match was officiated by Soudagar Mattoo (centre), Vivian, Ficky and Elajha Sotra.

JKP-B wins 7-6 in tie-breaker, enter QFs

Meanwhile, in the second match of the day, J&K Police-B trounced fighting Churchill XI 7-6 in tie-breaker. Now, J&K Police-B shall take on 9th Assam Regiment XI in the quarterfinals.
Leveled at 2-2 in the stipulated time, Police proved to be better in penalties making it 5-4. Rakesh Kumar, Sohan Kumar, Shabir Ahmed, Manzoor Ahmed and Vijay Kumar scored for Police. From Churchill XI, Amanjot Singh, Rinku Gill, Adonis Mattoo and Moon Steephon were successful while Vaneet missed the target.
Earlier, in the given time, young 10th standard student, Amanjot Singh (19th) and Karan Raina (33rd) scored for Churchill XI while Harman Singh (37th and 61st) leveled the scored.
