| Vth Diwali festival cricket tournament concludes. | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Majalta, Jan 4: 5th Diwali Cricket Tournament concluded today at mini – stadium Sehal Kouri Ber wherein Balpur – C trounced Balpur - A by 11 runs in a nail-biting final match organized here-over today.
Balpur – A won the toss and elected to field Balpur – C first piled up 115 runs in 18.04 overs with a scintillating knock of Dinesh who scored 62 runs with 4 sixes and five fours. Whereas Balpur – A was bowled all – out in 16.03 overs.
While Dinesh of Balpur – C was adjudged as man of match for scoring 62 runs and claiming 2 wickets for and its skipper Vinod was adjudged as man of the series and awarded with an attractive trophy and cash prize of Rs. 500 for securing 14 wickets and scoring 115 runs in the tournament.
The winner team was further given an attractive trophy along-with cash prize of Rs. 5100 whereas the runner-up team was given Rs. 2500 cash prize and a trophy. The prizes were distributed among the teams and players by the chief guest, R.S. Pathania, senior vice-president, J & K P.Y.C., whereas SHO Majalta, and other representatives of Health, P.H.E., P.D.D., Agriculture, Horticulture, Sports and other allied departments remained present throughout the day. This tournament is organized every year by the local people with the advent of Diwali wherein local teams and players get a chance to prove
their mettle in a local atmosphere.
