Kshitij Foundation laments on non-furnishing of information

Jammu, Jan 4: The delegation of Kshitij Foundation met leader of opposition BJP Chaman Lal Gupta & senior leader of Panther Party Harsh Dev Singh today and made them aware about the role of PSC regarding non-furnishing of the information, demanded under RTI, related to the combined competitive examination and other related issues.
Convener of Kshitij Foundation Narotam Sharma submitted a memorandum to the leaders of opposition carrying a list of demands related to RTI.
Their demands enclosed appointment of Chief Information Commission at an earliest. They also discussed about the threats and harassment the RTI workers are facing around the state. Sharma further discussed about the irresponsible role of PSC officials
for not providing the information in time and said that, corrupt government officials and anti-social elements are scared of the RTI Act.
They don’t want people to know their malpractices can be exposed with the help of RTI Act. Kshitij foundation is determined to aware the people about the RTI in the state and to help the people of the state to use this act for their common right.
He also criticized the government and said that Government has passed an Act for common people for fight to corruption, but it is sorry to say that the RTI act cannot take place as act for common people for fight to corruption.
Of course the government has passed this act on paper but at ground level this act is totally failed.
The leader of Opposion Chaman Lal Gupta gave a patient hearing and assured the RTI activists that all their demands would be taken into consideration and he would raise the genuine issues related to non implementation of RTI Act at the appropriate forum.
He showed his concern related to safety and security of RTI activists as well as reduction of excess fee for RTI applications. The member of foundation Permendra Singh and Vijay Choudhary were present on this delegation.
