| Northern Command Investiture Ceremony held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Jan 4: Northern Command Investiture Ceremony for presentation of Gallantry and distinguished service awards was held at Akhnoor.Lt Gen KT Parnaik, UYSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief,
Northern Command presented one YSM (Yudh Seva Medal), one Bar to Sena Medal, sixty Sena Medals (Gallantry), three (VSM) Vishisht Seva medals to the awardees.
Twenty two GOC-in-C Appreciation Cards were presented to unit which had excelled in the last one year. The awards were presented at Sangha Auditorium, under the arrangement of Crossed Swords Division. The ceremony was attended by senior civil military and paramilitary dignitaries.
Lt Gen JP Nehra, AVSM, General Officer Commanding 16 Corps and Maj Gen Rakesh Sharma, General Officer Commanding Crossed Swords Division, were among those present. Speaking at the function, Lt Gen KT Parnaik, UYSM, YSM commended the
awardees for having shown exemplary courage and devotion to duty while carrying out the onerous task of defending the mother land under trying and difficult conditions.
He exhorted the youth of the Nation to come forward to be a member of the rich and valiant tradition of elite Indian Army.
Anagha Parnaik also interacted with the families of brave soldiers and encouraged them to continue their unstinted support to their husbands.
