Each block, panchayat to get sports stadium under NYKK: Chib | | | Early times report Anantnag, Jan 04: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, R. S. Chib has said that an amount of Rs 31 crore is being spent in five years for promoting sports in Jammu and Kashmir under Centrally sponsored scheme NYKK. He said each block and panchayat, under this scheme, would get sports stadium. Chib said out of the total amount, Rs 16 crore would be incurred in Kashmir while Rs 15 crore in Jammu division for the purpose. The Minister was addressing a largely attended youth rally in Anantnag here today. Chib said that Anantnag stadium would be further upgraded and steps in this behalf would be initiated soon. Urging upon the youth to evince tremendous interest in sports activities besides curricular education, Chib said, “Our youth have tremendous talent and can compete any competition not only on national but international levels also”. The Minister said Omar led government has initiated various schemes for promoting education and sports besides providing of employment opportunities to the youth. He said government contemplates to provide drawing and disbursing powers to 200 zonal officers of Youth Services and Sports department which would help promote sports activities in each and every area. Later, the Minister distributed cricket kits among 40 youth of Anantnag. The Minister also convened a joint meeting of officers of four districts of South Kashmir and reviewed the measures underway for providing basic facilities like power, water, ration, etc. He asked the district officers to redouble their efforts and gear up all units to come up to the expectations of the people. The District Development Commissioners of Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian and other officers were present in the meeting. Chib also held Awami Mulaqat in presence of the officers.
