Pensioners stage protest dharna | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu Jan 4: J& K Pensioner Association organised a protest dharna today under the chairmanship of Govind Ram Sharma, its Governor, against the dictatorial and negative attitude of the Finance Minister to settle the long pending demands of the state pensioners inspite of lapse of more than one year. Sharma charged the Finance Minister of creating chaos and uncertainty among the pensioners in particular and the employees in general. Leveling serious allegations against the failure to State Government in all fronts, Sharma termed the Roadmap prepared by the Finance Minister as unfortunate to pay the arrears of 6th Pay Commission due from 1.1.2006 in 4 to 6 installments in favour of the pensioners. Speaking on the occasion, Jagdish Dogra and Ram Lal, Co-Covenors demanded immediate payment of with held 6% DA and release of 10 per cent DA due from July 7, 2010. They further said that the issues of additional quantum of pension and enhancement of medical allowance to Rs 1000 be also settled immediately. Addressing the pensioners, Advisor of the Association N.D. Sharma threatened to launch agitation for neglecting the employees falling under Pay Bands of Category I to III who have been granted a meager benefit 40%, 43% and 51% only whereas the officers falling under Pay Band IV have been given benefit @ 110% while granting 6th Pay Commission relief. He stressed immediate removal of such anomaly. He further asked the state Government to make public the outcome of the Cabinet meeting held about a month back to removal the anomalies Rattan Lal Raina, Dessa Singh, Swaran Singh, Nirmal Singh, O.P Gupta, Puran Chand Sharma and Dheru Ram also addressed the pensioners.
