Man killed in car mishap | | | JAMMU: A retired army captain was killed after the car, he was driving, skidded off the road and plunged into a nullah at Rownd Domail in Udhampur last night. Police sources said retired army captain Raminder Singh was going home at Majalta from Udhampur when his car fell into the nullah at Rownd Domail at about 7.30 pm, resulting in critical injuries to him. He was admitted to hospital where he later died. Police had registered a case in this connection.
Farooq pays obeisance at Vaishnodevi JAMMU: Union minister Farooq Abdullah today paid his obeisance at the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishnodevi in the Trikuta Hills of Katra. He reached Chhanji Chhat at about 12.30 pm. From there, he went to the cave shrine and paid obeisance, police said. Abdullah also inspected the work on the solar lights in the bhavan area. He later flew back to Jammu.
Five hurt in land dispute JAMMU: Five persons were today injured at Sidhra in a clash between the families of two brothers over a piece of land. Police sources said the families of Zameel Din and his brother Saif Ali clashed over a piece of land at Sidhra, resulting in injuries to five persons. The injured, whom sources identified as Mukhtiyar Bibi, Manzura Bibi, Zafar Ali, Ismail Ali and Saif Ali, were admitted to GMC hospital. Police had arrested Zameel after registering a case in this connection. Meanwhile, in another dispute over land, four members of the families of Krishan Lal and Sham Lal were also wounded near Sidhra. They too were hospitalised. |
