Operation to hunt down ultras at Gool enters 2nd day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 4: Even as security forces combed Kharawa woods near Bhimdasa in Gool for the second day today, LeT commander Abu Moosa and his four accomplices remained elusive. Moosa and his accomplices are held responsible for the killing of TA jawans -- Mohammad Sharief and Mohammad Khalil -- in Kharawa forests on January 1. The five were sighted by locals in a hideout in the forests yesterday. During searches by security forces, a gunbattle had erupted between the two sides. The intermittent firing between them had ended at about 5.30 pm Monday. Not a single shot was fired by militants throughout last night, police sources said. Sources said though some explosions were today heard in the forests, details were awaited. The help of army chopper was also taken yesterday to locate the militants' hideout and drop commandos. Sources said jawans faced problems in making forward movement because of the inhospitable terrain and snow. The operation entered the second day today. There was fierce gunbattle last evening. Search operation has been restarted this morning," DIG Manish Sinha said. |
