Computer thefts in Kathua Schools | Police-school administration playing blame game | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 5: About three year back, five computers were stolen from Government Higher Secondary School (Girls) Kathua but still nobody knows who stole them. Irony is that education department and school administration is not showing any interest in getting the case investigated. Sources said that it was work of insiders and that is the reason, case is not being pursued by authorities. “Till now, nothing is known about the fate of computers,” said a local resident. Officials of education department claim that they have given several reminders to the police department which inturn blames concerned school for not cooperating in the investigation. Local residents allege that computers were stolen with the help of the insiders and that is why, they are not interested in solving the case. According to sources, six computers had been handed over to Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Kathua for IT students. In 2007, five were stolen. They are completing their course only on one computer, sources said. Principal registered the FIR but people are still waiting to see who thieves were. Thereafter, on July 30, 2010, three computers were stolen from Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Hiranagar. Sources said that robbers didn’t break the lock of computer lab and even then, took away parts of three computers. It is penitent to mention here that government sanctioned computers to the schools for launching IT courses.
