| Khajuria to be formally elected State BJP president | | Lone candidate to file nomination papers | | JAMMU NOV 7: General Secretary State Unit of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and former MLA Ashok Khajuria is to be formally elected president of the State Unit here tomorrow replacing Dr Nirmal Singh from the post. Khajuria was the lone candidate who filed nomination papers by the close of the deadline fixed at 3 PM today. Since no other candidate filed his papers, the election of Khajuria has been unanimous. However, the formal announcement about his election as President would be announced tomorrow morning. According to sources, the over night hectic efforts by the Central leadership of the party seems to have worked, paying way for the unanimous choice of Khajuria for the coveted post. Earlier, the reports were making rounds that there would be a triangular contest among Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, Khajuria and Kavinder Gupta. However, Chaman Lal was reported to have expressed his unwillingness to contest for the post and instead decided to support Kavinder Gupta. But all these speculations failed today when no other candidate barring Khajuria filed his nomination papers.
