BJP rubbishes Omar's charge, says no reason to object plan | | | ET REPORT NEW DELHI, Jan 5: Minutes after Omar's observations loaded with accusations against BJP, the party rubbished his charge that it was trying to incite violence. The party maintained its plan to carry the national flag from West Bengal to Kashmir Valley and hoist it in Srinagar was aimed at promoting national sovereignty and solidarity. "BJP maintains that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India... We are going to carry the national flag not in one state but through several states... This is part of a campaign for national sovereignty and solidarity," Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley said. "It is a welcome step……….we are nationalists why should anybody object to it", Jaitely said while reacting to Omar's remarks asserting the yatra was not aimed at inciting violence. Pertinent to mention here is that the principal opposition is organising a Rashtriya Ekta Yatra starting from Kolkata on January 12 which will travel through several states and culminate in Srinagar on January 26 with hoisting of the national flag at Lal Chowk on Republic Day. |
