| PUCL expresses gratitude to PM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Jan 6: Balraj Puri convenor PUCL J&K State has expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for accepting his request to direct the J&K police to use non-lethal methods for dealing with protest demonstrations.
He noted that, as announced by the State Director General of Police, five battalions would be trained to maintain law and order and that these would be equipped with hi-tech gadgets like laser guns, tear smoke munitions pepper guns, rubber pellets, water cannons and pump action guns to avoid unnecessary causalities.
Puri had, in his meeting with the Prime Minister, inter alia, stressed the use of such methods universally practised dispersal of mass demonstrations
