With massive development, glory of Dal lake remerging: Dy CM

SRINAGAR, Jan 6: Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand today conducted inspection of all developmental activities being executed for maintenance and beautification of world famous Dal Lake.
Tara Chand asked the LAWDA authorities that not even a single second should be wasted in maintaining the Lake so that its scenic splendor could be redecorated at the earliest as it is one of the major attractions in the valley for domestic as well as foreign tourists.
He said that the government is implementing an effective mechanism to restore and renovate various water bodies in all the three regions of the state. He also appealed the people to supplement government’s efforts in this regard and help in ensuring cleanliness in and around these lakes.
Later, in a meeting with the LAWDA officers convened to deliberate upon certain innovative measures for revival of Dal Lake, he was informed that out of 20 crore earmarked for the Dal Development, Rs. 14.42 crore have been utilized so far. Besides, the work on several other development works is going on smoothly and speedily.
The meeting also discussed in detail various other issues regarding development of Dal Lake and rehabilitation of Dal dwellers.
During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister was informed that for rehabilitation of Dal Lake dwellers the work on construction of 800 plots is being completed besides work on 700 plots is in progress. He was told that work on 2000 plots in total is in full swing.
Tara Chand also visited Makai Park and took stock of various ongoing developmental works on foreshore road.
