Ex SPO shot dead, Pak National apprehended, cache recovered

A former Special Police Officer was shot dead by some unidentified persons at Nagri Doda, terrorists managed to escape from an encounter site at Bhatwari in Kishtwar, while as a 70- year Pak national was apprehended in general areas of Lunawali in Mandi of Poonch district. A youth was rescued from HUJI militant outfit in Kishtwar and security forces recovered a huge cache at two different places.
Giving details, a Defence spokesman said that an ex SPO identified as Muzaffar was shot dead by some unidentified persons at Nagri Doda .As per the preliminary investigation the deceased had some personal enmity leading to his death. Police is, however, investigating the case.
The spokesman said that on information by own sources about presence of militants in Bhatwari area of Kishtwar in Doda district, a column established contact with the ultras yesterday. However, the terrorists managed to break the contact and fled away. Additional columns with the assistance of the tracker dog have been deployed to apprehend the militants and the search operation was still continuing when the reports last came in. From the encounter site, the Army recovered two AK magazines, 20 AK ammunition rounds, one hand grenade, one AK rifle along with one magazine and 10 rounds of ammunition, besides a pouch.
The reports said that 70- year old Bahadur Khan, a Pak national was apprehended by the troops in general area of Lunawali 17 Km North of Manhi. The individual has claimed that he lost his way and inadvertently crossed the LoC.
In the meantime, a 17-year youth identified as Afzal son of Ghulam Hassain resident of Wuid Kishtwar, who was missing since October 25 last was rescued from the clutches of militants belonging to HUJI outfit.
During a search operation launched in general area of Hari Surankot in Poonch district, the SOG and NCA recovered 175 rounds of ammunition, two AK magazines, 50 rounds of AK ammunition, one hand grenade one Russain made RPG round, one radio set and two Pika Bullets.
