Rs 52 crore being expanded under RGGVY in Rajouri, Poonch: Shabir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, Jan 6: As many as 875 hamlets and 6 villages of border districts of Poonch and Rajouri would be electrified under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Viditiyakaran Yojna (RGGVY). Out of the total project plan of Rs 52.04 crore Rs. 17.99 crore have been utilized so far on the upgradation of power infrastructure till ending December 2010. This information was given at officers and engineers meeting convened and chaired by Minister of State for power and CA&PD, Shabir Ahmed Khan today to review the pace of progress on the implementation of the Yojna in the twin border districts. The meeting was informed that an amount of Rs 30.27 crore is being expanded under the programme for upgradation of power infrastructure in Rajouri district. Four receiving stations of the district are being upgraded to the capacity of 6.3 MVA, besides six villages and 625 hamlets of the district would be provided electricity, while as 5127 BPL families of the area are being provided service connections under the programme, the meeting was informed. The meeting was told that in order to improve voltage 678 more transformers of the capacity of 25KVA are being installed in the district, besides 640 Km high transmission and 42km low transmission lines are also being laid in Rajouri district under the programme. In Poonch, an amount of Rs 21.77 crore is being incurred for upgradation of power infrastructure and electrification of villages lacking this facility, the meeting said adding that Rs 6 crore have been incurred till the end of December 2010 in the area.
