KATRA BUS-STAND ISSUE | `Implement decisions taken by former CM’ | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATRA Jan 6:- The people of holy town Katra have urged the government to implement decisions taken by former Chief Minister viz-a-viz the bus stand. The existing bus stand, the locals said, provides livelihood to hundreds of families. “Pilgrims who arrive by bus make purchases in the nearby market and stay in hotels and guest houses close to the bus stand. If the bus stand is shifted, all these people shall be deprived of their bread and butter”, they said. Strongly opposing the shifting of the bus stand, the locals saikd the government must secure the jobs of its citizens. But, the opposite is bing done here in the name of renovation”, they lamented. They expressed surprise over the reluctance of the urban development ministry is reluctant in implementing decisions taken in the DDB meeting held under the chairmanship of former chief minister and former minister Jugal kishore sharma. It is worth mentioning here that in the year 2-4-07, a meeting held in Katra with Azad in chair and another DDB meeting held at Reasi under the former Rural and Panchyat minister Jugal kishore decided to shift the police station and forest office from the bus stand. The concerned were directed to hand over the vacated land to the local municipal committee to ensure smooth parking of vehicles. This was followed by massive correspondence between DDC Reasi and the municipal committee but nothing has moved till date.
