| NGAGA intensifies protest in support of long pending demands | | | JAMMU | NOV 7 The Junior Agriculture Assistant (JAA) under the banner of Non Gazetted Agricultural Graduates Association (NGAGA) today held a massive demonstration in the shape of rally at Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo. The protest was joined by hundreds of JAA’s drawn from different districts of Jammu province including Jammu, Poonch, Kathua, Rajouri, Udhampur and Doda. Scores of retired agriculture officers including Directors, Joint Directors and other officers also joined the protest to show their solidarity with protesting JAA’s. Addressing the gathering, President of the Association, Pradeep Sharma said that for the last one-month JAA’s are on the relay hunger strike and as of now no government agency except the Principal Secretary of agriculture has visited them. He added that NGAGA is protesting with positive attitude and keeping in view the high professional ethic, it has neither sabotaged the government work nor created any inconvenience to the farming community. He appealed to the Human Right Activists and various trade unions of the state to support the genuine demands of JAA and simultaneously appealed to the Chief Minister for early redressal of the their demands. Executive body of Trade Union of Secretariate led by its President Nazir Ahmed also visited the site of protest and assured full support to NGAGA. It is to be mentioned that NGAGA has been demanding the amendment in the present service rules for the removal of rank stagnation of JAA’s along with the change in the designation of the Jr.Agriculture Assistants (JAA) to the Assistant Agricultural Officers (AAO), which carries no financial implications. It has also demanded the removal of pay parity between graduate and Non-Graduate JAA’s and rational transfer policy.
