Drive against use of poly bags launched | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU Jan 7: Under instructions from Municipal Commissioner, Jammu, S.C Sawhney, the Enforcement staff led by Chief Enforcement Officer S.D Tak along with police force while intensifying and further continuing the drive to implement the ban on the use of polythene carry bags, inspected the shops and other outlets in the areas of Bakshi Nagar Shakti Nagar, Rajpura, Subash Nagar , New Plot , Janipur. During the inspection, the team seized about 20 kgs of polythene carry bags from the shopkeepers, vendors and others outlets in these areas. An amount of Rs 8,100 was charged as fine from 30 of defaulters on spot who were using the polythene carry bags. Besides this, in another move, the enforcement staff led by Satish Khajuria , Chief Enforcement Officer along with Enforcement Staff carried out a drive in the areas of Jewel, Gandhi Nagar, Bikram Chowk and seized 18 reharies which were found stationary and causing obstruction in the free movement of vehicular traffic and pedestrians also. The team also demolished 3 Tandoors which were found installed on footpaths.
