Speaker, Akhoon release book on “Be part of solution on roads” | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JAN 7- Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone and Minister for Transport and CA&PD, Qamar Ali Akhoon released a book “Be part of the solution on Roads” by Deputy Transport Commissioner, Bhumesh Sharma today at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, here. First of its kind, the book on roads depicts road geography, surface area and road history, will benefit the common man to understand their responsibility in following traffic rules and regulations. On the occasion, a documentary film on causes of road accidents and precautionary measures was also presented. Speaking on the occasion, Lone lauded the young writer Sharma for his contribution towards the society through his book and documentary film. He asked the people to understand their responsibilities and help in avoiding accidents by following the suggestions given by the young officer in his book. The Minister said that the Government would constitute a Coordination Committee under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary for better management and regulation of traffic. He said that for the benefit of the passengers, a passenger welfare scheme has been introduced in the State so that immediate relief could be given to the kith and kin of the deceased persons and injured. He said that Government is contemplating to prepare a City Transport and Transport Policy soon for which measures are under consideration. Transport Commissioner, Dr. Syed M. Fazalullah, IGP Traffic,. H. K. Lohia and Deputy Transport Commissioner, Bhumesh Sharma also spoke on the occasion . On the occasion, a cultural programme was also presented in which students of 5th class of Convent School played Indian Kathak Dance. Among others, Managing Director, SRTC, J. S. Tandon, Director SMG, G. A. Sofi, Laxmi Dutta, prominent citizens staff and students of Jammu University were present.
