| Alexander Memorial School holds inter school debate competition | | Presentation Convent bags winners trophy, Alexander emerges runner up | |

Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) in collaboration with Alexander Memorial School organized an inter school debate competition on the motion “ The Progress in the Science is the dawn of Self Destruction” at Alexander Memorial School here this morning. The students from the eight prominent schools of Jammu participated in the competition. Rev. Sohan Lal, Presbyter Incharge St Paul’s Church was the Chief Guest whereas; Elizabeth Noel and Arvind Noel of YMCA Chandigarh and S.Joshi, Principal Lawrence Public School were the guest of honours on the occasion. Dr. Posh Charak of Jammu University and Dr. Atula Dhar of Jammu Engineering College were the judges in the competition.
The young debators exhibited commendable skill in putting forward their arguments and counter arguments along with facts and figures for both sides of the debate. Vasumana Pant of Presentation Convent School, Jammu bagged the first prize whereas; Anmol Masson and Deepakshi Bhat of Alexander Memorial School were declared as the joint winners for the second prize. Surbhi Kesar of Presentation Convent School was awarded the most promising debator’s prize. Presentation Convent School, Jammu bagged the winners’ trophy and Alexander Memorial School bagged the runner up trophy.
Earlier, Esther Williams, Principal Alexander Memorial School welcomed the guests and the competition declared open with the lighting of traditional lamp by the visiting dignitaries. S K Munshi, School Coordinator presented the vote of thanks to conclude the event.
