Traffic lights on city roads still a dream as project got delayed | | | Early times report JAMMU, Jan 7: The much hyped project to install traffic lights in the city has remained on papers only as no notable steps have been taken in this regard. It is pertinent to mentioning here that government has announced that the project to install the traffic lights on the pattern of metropolitan cities would start in January. Officials, however, said that a proposal has been sent to the Home department for the recommendation, but so far nothing has been done in this regard. “The task force has been constituted for the installation of the traffic lights in the Jammu city which will take all the matter regarding the installation of the traffic lights which study all the possibilities for their installation, but still there is much confusion”, said a official. Interestingly, the concerned authorities also missed the first dead line. According to sources the work on traffic light was to start in January 2011 but till now nothing has been done. When contacted, Inspector of General (IG) Traffic Hemant Lohia, said that they have sent the proposal to Home Department of state for approval and are awaiting their response. He said that it is a priority project and would ease the pressure on the traffic police personnel who are working under tremendous pressure.
