Road Safety Week concludes | Continue with awareness drive: Akhoon tells MVD | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 7: Minister for Transport and CAPD, Qamar Ali Akhoon has stressed for continuation of awareness mission among the public launched during Road Safety Week to save precious human lives. The Minister was speaking at a valedictory function of Road Safety Week organized by Motor Vehicles Department in collaboration with Traffic Department here this evening. Akhoon said that saving human lives is worship of God and called upon the general public to come forward and cooperate with the government agencies for implementation of rules and regulations of traffic to save lives of human beings in day to day road mishaps. He also enjoined upon the Traffic and Transport Departments to work with coordinated manner in discharging their duties for rendering services to the people. Akhoon said the Government is taking various initiatives to minimize the accidents in the State particularly in hilly areas. He said two high tech driving institutions in Jammu and Srinagar are being established for imparting specialize training to the youth. He said RTO and ARTO offices of 8 districts have been computerized in the first phase and in the second phase 7 more are being computerized and rest of the districts will be computerized in the third phase. He said Quick Rescue Teams (QRT) have been established in hilly areas which have started their functioning in the areas of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban.
