Arrangements for Lohri, Raghunath Bazar festival reviewed

JAMMU, Jan 7: In connection with organizing the Lohri and Raghunath Bazar Festival 2011, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal.
The Department of Tourism in collaboration with District Administration, Travel and Trade Industry, Raghunath Bazar Business Association will organize the event.
It was decided in the meeting that the Lohri Festival will be held on 12th & 13th of January 2011. This festival will be organized at Bagh-e-Bahu, Kala Kendra and will culminate with the Raghunath Bazar Festival on the Lorhi day. A heritage walk to highlight the built heritage of Jammu will also be held starting from Amar Mahal Palace to Raghunath Bazar. The festival will showcase the culture of Jammu, songs and dances, heritage and ethnic food to attract tourism.
Shopping bonanza will be offered by the Raghunath Bazar Businessmen Association during the two day by way of discounts etc. It was also decided to hold a Chajja making competition of school children at Kala Kendra.
The meeting held detailed discussion on various issues regarding the inauguration of festival, invitation to VIP and dignitaries, valedictory function, proposed sub-committees for organizing the event, Band display by CRPF, illumination of Bahu Fort/Bagh-e-Bahu
garden, cultural programmes by Song & Drama Division, Food festival by
Hotel Association Pvt. Parties/JKTDC, exhibition of photographs by Information/Tourism Department, Ethnic Food Stalls, illumination of Kala Kendra, Cultural show besides Jammu Municipality will ensure a festive look to the Jammu city.
