Computer literacy drive concludes at Chapriyan | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 7: In order to create computer literacy amongst school going children, a computer literacy programme was conducted by Ace of Spades Artillery Brigade for children of Chapariyan Village of Poonch district from Dec 27 to Jan 7. This was the first time that such literacy drive was organised for the poor children of Chapariyan Village. An overwhelming response was seen from the children of the area and 30 children including 4 girls from local schools participated in the programme. The young students showed keen interest in learning the basics of computers and its operating technique. The children were given exposure to handling the computers. The programme was to complete on Jan 5. However, seeing the enthusiasm of the children the cadre was extended by two more days and finally culminated on Jan 7 with distribution of qualification certificates to the deserving candidates. Such programmes are also being planned in future for college going students who could not afford the cost of computer classes in civil institutions. A Medical Camp was also organised in Chapariyan Village on 04 Jan 11 for the poor people of the area. Poor and needy people suffering from basic ailments were attended to and given medicines free of cost. The villagers were advised by the Medical Officer regarding health care, nutritious diet and preventive measures to be taken during winters to avoid falting sick. The locals requested Army authorities for such camp in future also.
