Flag hoisting row turns murkier with war of words Using 'tamasha' word disrespect for tiranga : BJP | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 7 : At the local level in J&K, the ongoing war of words between the BJP and its political opponents including some opposition parties as well, over the issue of hoisting a flag at Lal Chowk in Srinagar is getting murkier with each passing day. A day after a senior Congress leader termed BJP 's attempt to hoist flag as a 'tamasha' senior BJP leader and party spokesman Ramesh Arora said that the inference drawn from what state he was trying to say that when Prime Minister of India, Chief of the State, Ministers and other senior leaders of the Congress unfurl national flag they also celebrate 'Tamasha'. He said all those people who are opposed to the flag hoisting ceremony are sending a wrong message and showing complete disrespect to national flag. He said keeping in mind the adverse propaganda campaign the BJP national leadership has taken up matter with President of India and we will also take up the same issue with Governor of the state. He said they are both Custodial and Heads of the constitution and are duty bound to protect the dignity and respect of national flag. The BJP leader reminded of the sense of commitment with spirit of nationalism and said that the youth wing of the BJP is committed to hoist the national flag "tiranga" as per scheduled programme at Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Jan 26, 2011. BJP State Vice-president and Kashmir Prabhari Chander Prakash Ganga said that the accession with India is complete and 1994 unanimous resolution of Parliament of India is clear on the subject. He said the decision of BJP Youth Wing-BJYM-to hoist national tri-colour in Kashmir is of great significance in view of the developments in the state. He said certain forces have tried to raise dispute about accession. BJP will continue its Kashmir Flag Hoisting programme and any attempt to disturb it will not be tolerated. He said that Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi started symbolic yatra in 1992 and BJP will continue the same with the full involvement of local unit. Ganga said that the party reject they appeal of State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for not hoisting flag on January 26 at Lal Chowk. Tri-colour flag is a symbol of national respect, even Hon'ble Supreme Court have endorsed that every citizen has a right to hoist national flag subject to certain restrictions. He further said that Omar Abdullah has termed this programme as provocative "Aag Lagane Wala" is really immature statement against democratic setup. BJP is trying to correct misdeeds committed by the government by making unnecessary controversy over accession. |
