| T20 Cricket: Kharian Jammu loses to Ghaziabad XI | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, January 08: Kharian Club Jammu today lost to the visiting side of Ghaziabad XI by four wickets in the ongoing DySP Manjit Singh Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at Sports Stadium, here.
With today’s win, Ghaziabad XI reached the quarterfinals stages of the tournament. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Kharian Club set a target of 131 runs for the loss of five wickets, which, in reply, Ghaziabad XI chased in 19.4 overs losing six wickets.
Sonu was top scorer with 24-ball 30 runs including five hits to the fence. Bharat and Sunit contributed 31 and 27 runs respectively. From Ghaziabad XI, Jiya was most successful bowler, who claimed two wickets for 17 runs. Vinay, Raja and Sanjit shared apiece each.
Batting second, Ghaziabad XI attained the goal on the fourth delivery of the last 20th over with four wickets in hand. Abu Bakar played match winning innings of 45 (off 37 balls, 4x4) runs. Nalin too contributed valuable 41 runs coming off 36 deliveries. Raj Kumar, Sonu and Sukha claimed two wickets each.
For his superb innings, Abu Bakar was declared man of the match. He was given away cash prize of Rs 1000 by special guest, Parveen Mahajan.
