Khoda for regular skill improvement of force to face new challenges | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 8: The Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda has called for conducting regular training of the police personnel to improve their skills to enable them to maintain law and order without using lethal weapons. He said that the training courses shall be oriented to tackle the situation in the prevailing law and order scenario in the state. The DGP while inspecting Police Training Centre, Sunjwan today, said that maintenance of law and order in the State is top priority of the state police. For this purpose, Jammu and Kashmir Police is updating its training modules focusing on modern techniques of mob control without causing loss of lives, besides ensuring professional policing. During his visit, Khoda inspected the police contingents, presently undergoing special orientation training course at the Centre. On the occasion, the contingents demonstrated skills of special training they are being imparted at the Centre. Later, Khoda addressed a meeting of officers which was convened at Training Centre to discuss various issues related to the special training courses. The meeting was told that the Centre is spread over 400 kanals of land and presently 450 personnel are getting special training here. The DGP asked the officers present in the meeting to improve facilities of the trainees so that they could devote attention towards their training. He said that the Centre will be strengthened and its requirements would be met by the PHQ. He issued on the spot instructions for allotment of 100 KV Gen Set to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the Centre. He asked the officers to keep in view weather conditions while constructing structures for the trainees. He assured them that all support will be provided to fully equip the training Centre. Earlier, the Additional Director General of Police, Armed and Law and Order, K. Rajendra Kumar, briefed the DGP about the conduct of special orientation course which has started from January 5, 2011. Among others, the DGP was accompanied by Inspectors General of Police, D. R. Doley, Sheikh Owais Ahmed and Ravinder Kotwal, Deputy Inspectors General of Police, Abdul Qayoom Manhas, T. Namgiyal and Danish Rana, Commandant, 17th IRP Bn and other police officers.
