Delhi not to accept rotational Chief Ministership in JK | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 9: The Congress high command is said to have conveyed to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, to concentrate on accelerating the pace of implementation of various development projects so that people were able to reap the benefits of the new projects. Informed sources said that the Congress high command had also, put all speculations to rest on the reintroduction of rotational Chief Ministership in Jammu and Kashmir. Sources said that the Union Minister for New and Renewable energy and President of the National Conference, Dr Farooq Abdullah, during his meetings with Congress leaders at New Delhi has made clear that allowing Omar to complete six years in office will prove fruitful for the state. Farooq Abdullah has also reminded the Congress leaders in New Delhi that it was the result of efforts of the Chief Minister and the state administration that the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in the valley which had been rocked by civilian strife, had witnessed marked improvement during the last two months. The NC president is said to have conveyed to Delhi the need for keeping the current political arrangement alive for another four years so that there was no change in the priorities that had been framed by the incumbent Chief Minister. Reports said that the Congress high command is not yet prepared to snap ties with the National Conference and forge fresh alliance with the PDP because it has dawned on them that Abdullahs were politically convenient for the Congress in Jammu and Kashmir. Congress high, it seems, has conveyed to the leaders of the state unit of the party that they should evolve a mechanism so that the problem of conflict between the dissidents and the loyalists was resolved. The Congress high command has at the same time suggested to Omar Abdullah and his father to take the Congress leadership in Jammu and Kashmir into confidence while framing people-oriented policies
