| Women fell unconscious as SMC demolishes her temporary dwelling | | | Srinagar, Nov 08 A women was hospitalized after her she felt unconscious, when her dwelling located on the bank of river Jehlum was demolished in the heart of the city by Srinagar municipality today. Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) launched a fresh anti encroachment drive and demolishes number of illegal constructions in the city, “we have already served notices to the owners but they did not respond with the result the constructions were demolished” Khalaf warzi officer NAK adding the corporation has decided to demolish all such constructions which are illegal in nature. The corporation would not encourage such constructions which are not designed as per the given criteria of SMC. “I don’t know why my shop was demolished” one of the shopkeeper told NAK, alleging, that neither we were served with any notice nor they approach to us. When contacted, Sources said that a woman who’s dwelling on the bank of river Jehlum was demolished fell unconscious and was hospitalized. “Government had promised us to provide alternate accommodation or land some were in the out skirts” another dwelling holder told NAK adding we are home less and nothing has been done by the government despite its tall claims. “No dwelling of our community is permanent in nature and all the dwellings are temporary” he said, adding, that those shops and houses are still stand which have been constructed in the city limits. A senior citizen was of the opinion that Government must provide some alternate accommodation to the neglected lot of the community who are still house less “Srinagar development authority failed to construct houses for those who either live below poverty line or are house less” he added.
