Amritsar XI wins by 62 runs in T20 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, Jan 9: Amritsar Sports Club today sailed into quarterfinals of ongoing DySP Manjit Singh Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament outplaying Ghaziabad XI by a big margin of 62 runs at Sports Stadium, here. Batting first, after winning the toss, Amritsar XI set a target of 169 runs for the loss of five wickets, which, in reply, Ghaziabad XI could not chase after the whole side bowled out for 106 runs in 19.4 overs. Rahul Khosla was top scorer with 34-ball 61 runs, inclusive of three sixes and five fours, while Arush made valuable contribution of 48 runs coming off 24 balls, including three sixes and a four. Harman made 24 runs. From Ghaziabad XI, Johny clinched three wickets while Sanjeev took one. Later, Ghaziabad XI made a poor beginning and in the process failed to maintain the required run rate. The whole team bundled out for 106 runs in 19.4 overs. Ankur and Jiya were main scorers, who contributed 41 and 30 runs to the team’s total. Sunny, Vinay Choudhary and Arush took two wickets each from Amritsar XI. For his superb innings of 61 runs, Rahul Khosla was declared man of the match. He was presented cash prize by local business, Sanjeev Dubey.
