Bhalla lays foundation stone of Rs 60 lakh causeway | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 9: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today laid the foundation stone of second Rs. 60 lakh 14-meter vented causeway over Landoi Choi nallah at Bhour Kothey, which was washed away last year during rainy season. Addressing a large gathering after laying the foundation stone, Bhalla asked the Roads and Buildings department to accelerate pace of work on the project and ensure its completion within one month. He said on completion, the bridge will connect Ward No. 1 and Ward No. 2 and will benefit the school going children. He said construction work on another 18 meter span steel girder bridge costing Rs. 1.92 crore in the area is in progress and would be completed by March 2011. He asked the PDD to shift 3 km High Tension wires and poles and install these at suitable places so that the people do not face any inconvenience. Regarding construction of link road from Bhour Kothey to Truck Adda and Lower Gaddigarh to Bhour Kothey, the Minister asked the concerned authorities to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and submit the same for funding so that the development works could be started. He informed Government has earmarked Rs. 20 lakh for construction of internal lanes at Bhour Kothey adding the work would be started within week time. He said that Government is planning to construct a Panchyat Ghar in Lower Gaddigarh for which a proposal is under active consideration with Rural Development Ministry for approval and funding. Bhalla said that a flouriculture garden has been developed to attract tourists in Bhour Camp and Belicharana areas. Minister said that Government has formulated a comprehensive plan of Rs 19 crore for upgradation of Landoi Choi nallah from Gandhi Nagar to Railway Station and Rani Bagh to Balol nallah.
