Follow teachings of Guru Gobind Singh: Sham Lal

JAMMU, Jan 9: Describing Guru Gobind Singh’s teachings as of utmost significance in present time of chaos and confusion, Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma has urged upon the people to strictly follow the principles of 10th guru of Sikhs to lead a peaceful and prosperous life.
The Minister was addressing an impression congregation of Sikhs gathered to commemorate 345th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh at village Tanda in Akhnoor, near here today. Terming Guruji as an apostle of brotherhood, valour and a great reformer, the Minister said that Guruji’s teachings, which are equally
relevant today, will always serve as perfect source of inspiration for the human race especially for the Sikh community. He said that Guruji always advocated the cause of poor and downtrodden and fought selflessly against various social evils like Sati Pratha, Pardha (Veil), smoking, gender bias etc.
Minister said that all the religions teach us the same lesson of love, brotherhood, amity and tolerance and we should fetch optimum benefit from the teachings of the great saints and gurus to make this world a better place to live in. He maintained that true tribute to Guruji will be to follow his teachings with all purity and sincerity and to
serve the mankind irrespective of caste, creed and color. Felicitating the people on this auspicious occasion, the Minister said that such occasions provide us an opportunity to introspect and choose the path of righteousness and truthfulness.
The Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, Tanda also organized an impressive Bhajan-Keertan programme and Guruji’s Langer on this occasion. They also felicitated the Minister by serving him a Seropa.
