Hurriyat leader sees hope in upcoming Indo-Pak talks | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar/Jammu, Jan 10:-Leaders of All Party Hurriyat Conference(APHC) hope that the upcoming dialogue between India and Pakistan could lead to some settlement of the problems that have bedeviled the relations between the two sides. Stating this, senior APHC leader, Professor Abdul Gani Bhat, said that the ensuing talks be utilized for reducing the trust deficit, for promoting goodwill needed for the resolution of bilateral problems. He said as along as there is bitterness between the two sides, talks at any level may not be result oriented. In reply to a question Bhat said that there should be no difficulty for the foreign secretaries of India and Pakistan in framing the comprehensive agenda adding that the agenda has been there because the two sides have remained engaged in dialogue in the past. Bhat said that once the foreign ministry level talks begin those could be followed by dialogue between the separatists and New Delhi and between "us and Islamabad." He made it clear that first of all the problems especially the Kashmir issue, have to be discussed between India and Pakistan and once the two sides were on the threshold of a resolution, representatives of the people of Jammu and Kashmir could be involved for hammering out a final and durable solution to the problem. He said that the APHC has always been in favour of dialogue and whatever problems the two neighbours have could be resolved only through dialogue."We want peace to be restored in the Indian subcontinent and this is possible if India and Pakistan succeed in settling the Kashmir issue, which is key to peace in the entire south Asian region,"Bhat said
