Adhere strictly to power distribution schedule, Mir tells PDD | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Jan 10: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir today directed Chief Engineer, Power Development Department (PDD) to adhere strictly to the curtailment schedule already published in the valley so that people get power supply during this cold wave which has engulfed the valley. He also directed that wherever the electric transformers are damaged be repaired or changed within seven days as per the instructions already issued by the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. This direction was passed in a high level divisional officers meeting chaired by the Minister to take stock of the supply position in valley and progress of ongoing developmental works in the valley in winter secretariat here today. The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon, all Deputy Commissioners of valley, Chief Engineers of Power, PHE and R&B and Joint Director of Information, Deputy Director, Central, CA&PD and representatives of other concerned departments. The Minister was informed that PDD department is providing 840 MWs electricity to the people at peak hours and added that there was one evening cut in metered areas and three evening cut in non metered areas. Giving the direction to divisional commissioner to personally to remain in touch with PDD department, Mir said that the government has already imported the power from northern grid as per their transmission capacity to provide adequate power supply to the people. He said that to coup up the demand, the gas turbine was also commissioned to ease out the people’s problem.
