Trans Himalayan Motor cycle expedition | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT (DHARMUND) DODA, Jan 10: The Trans Himalayan Motorcycle Expedition which is being under taken by Corps of Signals as part of their Centenary Celebrations was flagged off by the Officiating General Officer Commanding, Delta Force here today while the motor cyclists were en-route to Kashmir Valley. The motorcyclists had arrived in a magnificent procession of motor cycles yesterday evening. After a night halt at Dharmund the expedition today proceeded to Srinagar. During the course of their journey, which started on January 6 from Ambala, the expedition comprising 14 members will cover approximately 4000 kms of rough Himalayan terrain in J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, UP, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh and will terminate at Jabalpur on February 14. The Corps of Signals will be completing hundred years on 15 Feb 2011. The Corps is celebrating the “Centenary Year” by holding pan India events including reunions in a manner befitting the proud history and achievements. A large number of adventure activities like sky driving, trekking, white water rafting and motor cycle expeditions in the mountains and deserts are being organised to salute the Signalmen. The aim of the expedition is to publicize the celebration of 100 Years of Corps of Signals and motivate the youth in Himalayan Region to join the Army. The expedition will test the physical and mental stamina of the team while inculcating a spirit of adventure and develop leadership traits.
