Bhalla distributes IAY cheques to BPL families | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 10: For providing relief to the Below Poverty Line inhabitants, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today conducted an open darbar and distributed relief cheques among several houseless beneficiaries under Indira Awas Yojna (IAY) and National Calamity Relief Fund. The relief worth Rs 20 lakh was distributed among among 200 houseless beneficiaries of Lower Gadigarh, Upper Gadigarh, Chatha Farm, Chatha Mill, Bhour Camp, Sunjwan, Bathindi, Narwal, Chatha Pind and other nearby areas. Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla asked the beneficiaries to use disbursed money for construction houses besides repair of partial damaged houses due to heavy rains in rainy season last year.. Minister also informed that a comprehensive plan has been prepared for renovation and upkeep of Evacuee Properties (EP) in the urban pockets, adding that the custodian department authorities asked to charge nominal fee from tenants who are chronic patients and physically challenged, besides below poverty line families. He said the patients belonging to below poverty line and elders above 65 years would be provided free of cost medical facilities in the hospitals. For the convenience of the weaker sections of the society, Bhalla said multipurpose community halls are also being constructed at a cost of Rs.7.5 crore at Bazigar Basti near Bahu Fort, Govindpura Kullian Shigligar, Raipur Satwari, Barzala, Preet Nagar, Gangyal, Shanker Nagar near Malik Market, Barzalla, Chatta in Sunjwan, Rajiv Nagar, Nai Basti near Ramlila ground besides Kargil Bhawan at Kargil colony in Bathindi
