Rs. 78 Cr Trauma Hospital at Sunderbani soon: Sham | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 10- In order to curtail rush in the Government Medical Colleges and provide better healthcare to the people at their doorsteps, the Government will adequately equip all the District and Sub-District Hospitals across the State. All District Hospitals will be provided with the facilities of CT Scan and Critical Care Ambulatory services to cater the emergencies at the district level. This was disclosed by the Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma while addressing the largely attended public meeting at Sunderbani after dedicating to the public, a 30-bedded Indoor Complex in the Sub-District Hospital today. The Minister reiterated the endeavour of the Coalition Government to upgrade the health services in every nook and corner of the State and during the past two years a massive development has taken place. The change is visible in every health institution and people have acknowledged the improvement. He said that thrust has been laid to upgrade the existing infrastructure in the rural and far-flung areas to keep a check on the referral system and ease pressure at the Government Medical College, both at Jammu and Srinagar. Mr. Sharma apprised the gathering that during the current financial year, 13 District Hospitals will be provided CT Scan facilities and rest of the districts will be covered in the next year. The cost of each machine is around 1.34 crore. Similarly, the proposal for procurement of fully equipped Critical Ambulances for each District is also under the active consideration, and hopefully the service will be available during the next fiscal, he added. To meet the emergency on the Jammu-Poonch Highway, the Minister said that Health Department has submitted a proposal of Rs. 78 crore to the Central Government for construction of a Trauma Hospital at Sunderbani. The land for the hospital has already been identified adjoining to the Sub-District Hospital where offices of Animal Husbandry and Poultry Farms of the Department are located. These departments have been proposed to be shifted in some other suitable locations. The Government has already sanctioned the posts for the Trauma Hospital, said Mr. Sharma. Congratulating the people of Sunderbani for getting additional accommodation in the SDH, the Minister said that capacity of the hospital has been enhanced from 33 to 63 beds. The complex has been constructed by the Police Housing Corporation at an estimated cost of Rs. 74 lakh. He said that all necessary services like, X-ray, Lab facilities and blood bank are available in the hospital. He asked the people to assist the hospital authorities in maintaining its sanitation, adding that hospital is the public property and people must ensure its safety and cleanliness, the Minister asserted.
