Rakesh, Rajeev guide WCC to emphatic win in T20 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 11: Powered by all-round performance from skipper Rakesh Koul (55 runs and two wickets) and three-wicket haul by Rajeev Pandita, Whites Cricket Club (WCC) thrashed BBCC by five wickets in the ongoing New Year Cricket Cup at GGM Science College, here today. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, BBCC managed to score a good total of 122 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Vizy scored 33 runs with the help of 6 delectable boundaries while Lovely and Vishal chipped in with 16 and 15 runs respectively. Rajeev was the wrecker-in-chief for WCC, who scalped three important wickets by giving away just 16 runs in his 3 overs while Rakesh Koul and Rohit Pandita took 2 wickets each. In reply, WCC rode on a superb batting display by Rakesh Koul and reached the target comfortably in 19.1 overs by losing five wickets in the process. Rakesh struck 7 crispy fours in his 55-ball 55 runs and played most of his shots with fluid grace and utter brilliance. He was supported by Sourav Gupta and Nazir who contributed 18 and 11 runs respectively. Sourav hit two fours in his brief knock while Nazir one. Sumit took 2 wickets for BBCC while Tony and Vicky claimed one wicket each. For his all-round performance, Rakesh Koul was adjudged man of the match. The match was officiated by Deepu, Raju and Anil. The tournament is being organised by Super Star Cricket Club under the over all supervision of Deepu.
