Roller hockey gold for J&K after 16 years | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 11: The new year begin on a positive note for the roller skating as the state has won gold medal in senior men’s Roller Hockey event that too after a gap of 16 years in the ongoing 49th National Roller Skating Championship at Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. This was disclosed by president of the All J&K Roller Skating Association, G S Khurmi. He said, “The young skaters have repeated the feat achieved by their seniors 16 years back, so we at the Association are extremely happy about the achievement.” “No doubt, we were expecting a medal from the senior men’s roller hockey team, but what they have done was beyond our expectations. The boys have beaten formidable Haryana in the final 5-4,” he informed. Besides men’s gold, senior girls too have won a bronze medal in roller hockey. Another bronze was won by J&K in men’s Inline roller hockey to make it a three-medal tally in hockey event alone. “The state contingent has won a number of individual medals too in other events in this ongoing national championship,” maintained Khurmi.
