JKCA says no to use of ground by member clubs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 11: In a bizarre happening, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has denied permission to member clubs for holding competition on a ground maintained by it (Association) at GGM Science College, here. Although the request letter, forwarded by the organizers, was duly marked for permission by the JKCA president, Dr Farooq Abdullah, still the chairman, MA Goni and secretary, Salim Khan said a `blunt’ no. The tournament in the name of RC Tickoo-SDA Drabu Memorial Cricket Tournament is being organised jointly by four affiliated clubs of JKCA, Kashmir Cricket Club, Whites Cricket Club Rainawari Cricket Club and Srinagar Cricket Club. “Denial of permission to hold the event at GGM Science College Hostel ground by the JKCA has left us with no other option but to postpone the tournament till an alternative is gound,” former JKCA general secretary and president of Kashmir Cricket Club, ML Nehru told SAN. The office bearers of these affiliated clubs have also alleged that by denying the cricketing facilities to the cricketers, the JKCA was scuttling the cricket development activities in the state and discouraging standard and competitive cricket. Criticising JKCA office bearers for biased approach based on personal likes and dislikes, the organisers said that the denial of ground facilities exposed the working of the JKCA administration.
