No end in sight to LPG customers' woes | Consumers wait for hours to get refills at choice place of dealers | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Udhampur , Jan 11: LPG customers in Udhampur are a harried lot these days with most of them not getting their cylinders home delivered even a month after booking .
Majority of the consumers has alleged that due to the monopoly of dealers there is no home delivery of LPG cylinders Frustration was writ large on the faces of hundreds of consumers queued up near HP gas agency near Barrian and at Shiv Nager area as they waited for hours together to take refills of the domestic LPG cylinders at there own but returned with empty hands getting reply from dealers that gas will now come next week . Dalip , a local resident , said he booked a cylinder more than two weeks ago but did not get refill till date .
He added that now his second cylinder is nearing exhaustion, he is worried as he has to attend office also besidede queueing up daily to procure the cylinder.
Accusing the authorized dealer of dictating terms, the consumer Vijay Kumar said that despite having paid for home delivery, they were forced to take their refills personally.
He alleged that the people were facing hardship owing to the delay in delivering gas cylinders at their doorstep as authorized dealer dictate terms besides giving home delivery to its customers. Majority of the consumers of five registered gas agencies of city which include HP and Indian oil has alleged that they suspect that the agencies are diverting domestic cylinders to other users like hotels and dhabas in black but there is no check from CAPD department or administration to keep sees into the irregularity. Accusing the gas dealer of unethical practices, residents said, the all gas dealers in city dealer are not ready to deliver the cylinder at home but are more than willing to give it in black for Rs 400 to 500 even out of turn from the godown. He has demanded action against those who are adding woes of consumers despite being paid for services. Majority of the consumers of the Chopra shop, Garhi-Rehmbal has also alleged that gas agencies are selling the domestic Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) to the hoteliers, Dhaba, sweetshops and tea stall owners in order to earn extra money. But CAPD department is mute spectator in this regard.
