Relieved Omar to concentrate on development
1/11/2011 9:53:39 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Jan 11 :- Relieved after Congress high commands assurance that there was no plan of introducing rotational Chief Ministership for the time being, Omar Abdullah has started asserting his authority.
The assurance, according to informed sources was given to Omar and his father, Dr Farooq Abdullah, after the union Home Ministry received reports that the situation in the Kashmir valley was fully under control and even the hardliners and moderate separatists had begun being on the defensive.
Sources said that Omar Abdullah has assured the Congress high command that he would further strengthen the alliance with the Congress in Jammu and Kashmir. He has decided to take senior Congress leaders and ministers into confidence while framing and finalizing important policies.
Sources said, the relations between Omar Abdullah and his father, Farooq Abdullah, have been fully smoothened after the impact of the civilian strife that paralyzed normal life in Kashmir for five months.
Prior to the agitation Omar would not seek guidance from his father. But when things became hot for Omar during the five-month long agitation it was Farooq Abdullah who came to his son’s rescue and prevailed upon the Congress high command against any change of guard.
Reports said that Omar has been seeking regular guidance from his father who is said to have suggested to the Chief Minister to consult senior NC leaders, including Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather, Mohd.Shafi Uri,a former minister and others.
Omar has shown interest in reaching out to the people. During the past one week he has been seen interacting with a cross section of people in the state. Of late he has started goading the state administration and the executing agencies so that various development projects, taken in hand, were completed on time. Omar, it seems, wants to concentrate on development to show results.
