Don't take extreme step of migrating from valley: Farooq to Sikhs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 11: Union Minister and National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah who is more visible in the state for last one week on Tuesday assured Sikh community members of proper security in the Kashmir valley and advised not to take any extreme step of migrating from the valley at this point. Dr Abdullah who participated in the Gurupurab celebrations at Chand Kour Gurudwara in Jammu on Tuesday made this appeal to the members of the sikh community not to take threats of migration too seriously as times have changed and there is a perceptible change in the security situation. Speaking in clear words Dr Abdullah went on to say that Dr Abdullah would die first before any Sikh member of the community could think of migrating from the Kashmir valley. Comparing the situation between 1990 and 2011 Dr Abdullah said in 1990 when attempts were made to force Sikh community out of the Kashmir valley their Muslim brothers stood out and requested them not to leave the valley and now Dr Abdullah would die first if at all they thought of migrating from the Kashmir valley. Appealing to the members of the Sikh community not to pay attention to threats from vested interests said that in today's time people from all religions can stay together and together work for the development of the state. He urged them to stay alert against the threats from vested interests who are only and always interested in seeing unrest and trouble in the state. |
