'Flutter' about changes in New Delhi stirs up activity in J&K Congress | Azad loyalists gearing up for Jammu rally on Jan 30….? | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 11: Ahead of some certain changes in AICC organizational structure in terms of assigning new jobs and assignments to the key leaders , the faction ridden J&K Congress is witnessing a flurry of activity with supporters in the two main camps getting active for respective 'political motives' on anvil. While the supporters of Pradesh Congress Chief Prof Saif-u-Din Soz are already active and 'on the move' , Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's lobby that was seen having reposed itself in comparative calm for some time is now coming out of this 'quietism and stillness'. The latter are preparing for a 'grand rally' to be organized at Parade Ground on January 30. Sources said the cadres and leaders who have placed themselves in the Azad lobby, after remaining inactive for some time have started showing some mobility, particularly ever since the talk of some significant changes at AICC gathered momentum. The supporters from both Kashmir as well as Jammu are keeping a close watch of the developments in New Delhi but at the same time they are gearing for a political rally which has been scheduled on January 30. The rally, ostensibly a show of strength for the other camp, will be addressed mainly by the Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, sources said. The Azad camp, it is learnt has deliberately kept this date , nearly two weeks after what is likely to be decided by the High Command within a week or ten days, sources added. The Azad camp is apparently looking for a change at New Delhi in terms of new AICC general Secretary who will be in charge of J&K affairs, some one close in the Azad lobby from within the High Command, sources maintained adding that some leaders at the local level are trying hard to get Prof Soz replaced as PCC chief, though the High Command is not inclined for effecting this change for now. Some leaders in this camp have also contended it strongly and given some names in the quarters that matter. But the change of guard in PCC for now is quite unlikely, sources maintained. On the other hand the supporters of the PCC chief Prof Soz are vehemently opposing and resisting any change in the guard at local level in the party, contending right now there was no appropriate choice in the leadership who could handle the matters in as effective and acceptable manner as Prof Soz is doing. Some of the key leaders from state strongly favouring Prof Soz's name have already reached New Delhi and are lobbying for continuance of his position in PCC. While the 'flutter' in New Delhi has 'ruffled feathers' at the state level too , the two camps divided in two factions are interestingly in complete denial of what both are doing and looking for in next few days. While the Azad camp is mobilizing cadres for ensuring huge strength of people for Jan 30 rally, many leaders in PCC , apparently not associated with it, feign ignorance about the political show. As always, in terms of political activities, their path and approach remains diverse with each following the 'strategy' that suits achieve their interests. January 30 rally, for reasons clear won't see any participation of the leaders who are not siding with Ghulam Nabi Azad lobby. |
