Bhalla distributes 195 cheques to urban poor | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 12: For construction of pacca houses of urban poor of Bahu Fort, Qasim Nagar and Gangyal, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today conducted an open darbar at Gandhi Nagar and distributed financial assistance worth Rs 23 lakh to 23 inhabitants under Basic Services to Urban Poor scheme. Besides this, Rs 2.58 lakh to 172 beneficiaries of Satwari, Raipur Satwari, Bhour Camp, Bhour Kothey and Bhour Kullian under National Calamity Relief Fund to those whose houses were partially damaged due to heavy rains last year. Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), S C Sawhney, Tehsildar, Jammu, Subash Chib besides other senior officers of JMC and Revenue were present on the occasion. While addressing the gathering after distributing Rs 1 lakh as first installment, Bhalla asked the beneficiaries to use disbursed money judiciously for construction of Pacca houses adding that Government has approved Rs 3.12 lakh each for urban poor. He said after spending the first installment amount adding that second and third installments could be paid after proper inspection of Housing and Urban Department authorities. He asked the left out urban poor sections to fill the forms and avail the benefits of BSUP schemes for construction of houses on their own available land. He said for construction of household toilets, the Rural Development Department has provided Rs 2200 to poor sections of society and loans on minimum rates through J&K bank.
